First-time buyers Aneta Pietraszek and James Carter moved from a rented flat near Canary Wharf to a stylish four-bedroom house in the market town of Orpington – and they love the community feel of the area after years of city living.
Recruitment advisor Aneta, 27, and James , a 25 year old investment analyst, wanted a home of their own, within a door-to-desk commute of under one hour to Central London. Using London Help To Buy, they bought a spacious home with a private garden at London Square Orpington, a gated community of apartments and houses set in more than six acres of grounds by award-winning developer London Square.
We wanted to take our first step on the property ladder. Having lived near Canary Wharf for three years, we knew we wanted more space and a greener setting to start a family. Compared to a large number of developments we explored, the London Square Orpington development was, without doubt, the most attractive. The house was finished to a high standard and the development feels like an ideal setting for families. We are getting married in July and look forward to starting a family in the not too distant future.
Our biggest surprise is how much we enjoy the local area. It has a community feel which is absent when living in the city.
The location is ideal with the fast trains making London so accessible. We like that the development is a gated community, providing some added security and we love the high specification of the property. We are also relieved about having two parking spaces, which has avoided any stress about parking when we have visitors.
The sales team are warm, friendly and very helpful, which minimised the stress. Whilst the process of buying a home could never be described as painless, we felt hugely supported throughout. Post completion, this close relationship with the sales team continues and the London Square Customer Care team are always at hand to deal with any issues that may arise with the property. We are now looking forward to spending our first Christmas in our new home.
London Square Orpington is close to the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and offers a relaxed, country lifestyle while being only 16 minutes by train to London Bridge. The market town has a mix of great shops, restaurants and cafes and a great lifestyle for families. Schools are a major draw and Orpington has been rated as one of the best places in the UK for education, from primary through to its secondary and grammar schools.
