Kwasi Kwarteng, Secretary of State for Business and MP for Spelthorne, paid a visit to see the completed £120m high street regeneration of new homes and a supermarket - delivered by award-winning developer London Square in the heart of Staines-upon-Thames.
The MP was shown around the scheme by London Square's development director Sanjay Sharma. The development has provided 364 new homes in a series of buildings with attractive brick facades, a mix of private apartments, which are all sold, and 104 affordable homes, plus a new Co-op store, and commercial space. The scheme features landscaped green spaces, including an elevated landscaped garden square and roof terraces.
London Square has worked with VisitStaines and local groups and organisations as part of its investment in the town, including sponsorship of the Spelthorne Business Plan Competition, which it is supporting for the sixth year to find the local business entrepreneurs of the future.
Kwasi Kwarteng commented: “The London Square development has made a major difference to the high street, transforming the area around the station with new homes where residents are now living and with a neighbourhood supermarket. We are delighted that London Square is demonstrating its commitment to the community by backing the Spelthorne business plan competition once again."
Sanjay Sharma, development director of London Square, which focuses on building new homes across Greater London, said: "Kwasi Kwarteng has taken an interest in the development from the start and it was a pleasure to show him around to see the results - an attractive new community which is continuing to play an important role in improvements to the town centre."
