How to style a bookshelf
Shelf styling, or shelfie styling as it is more commonly known, is becoming more and more well-liked as a way to give our homes a unique and fashionable touch.
You can transform your shelfie skills from mediocre to fantastic with a few easy hacks and pointers on what materials to use and how.
1. Mix up book placement
When designing shelves, books immediately give them a cosy air. Make the most of them by arranging certain stacks to the left, right, or centre of a shelf and stacking books both horizontally and vertically.
You can keep things interesting and balance the "weight" of your shelf style by varying the placement of books and stacks.
2. Introduce Decorative objects
Having a display of varied items, from plants to books, ornaments and candles, your shelf will tell a story of your style and personality. A display of personal objects will bring warmth and interest into the room. Be informal with your display to give the shelves a more spontaneous look.
3. Stack
Layering is a top tip for creating a visually aesthetic space. If you've created a few book stacks on your shelf, simply place a small decorative item on top. Mix together texture, size, and tone, but be sure to keep to a singular colour palette or style. Because shelves offer a lot of space to fill, balance and visual weight play a big part in getting it right. Make sure your shelves are not so crowded
