How we’re staying energy-positive at Twickenham Square

25 Mar 25

At Twickenham Square, we have an exclusive collection of 8 energy-positive three bedroom Townhouses available. So what does this mean and why is it important?

A house is classified as ‘Net Zero Operational’ when no fossil fuels are used to operate the building in terms of heating, cooling and lighting.

In order to achieve this at Twickenham Square, we have undertaken a number of measures to ensure our new beautiful new townhouses comply:

Building fabric

  • All windows are triple glazed
  • We have increased insulation performance
  • The houses have excellent fabric efficiency meaning residents can turn off their heating systems when electricity is expensive and high carbon, and their homes will stay warm. When electricity is clean and cheap they can take advantage of this by turning their heating systems back on.
  • All Showers are fitted with a Waste Water Heat Recovery system. This means that cold water supply delivered to shower is distributed via the WWHR system, which pre-heats the cold water prior to delivery to the shower. This reduces the energy demands for heating.

Space heating/Energy

Space heating/Energy

  • There will be no combustion of fossil fuels at all at Twickenham Square and all houses will benefit from individual air source heat pumps.
  • The houses will also have hot water storage tanks, which significantly reduces peak power demands on the electricity grid and offers another way for residents to take advantage of clean cheap energy when it is available.

Renewable Primary energy

  • The proposed PV panels on the roofs of the houses are estimated to generate around 14% of the dwellings’ annual energy requirements.

Twickenham Square is a collection of 1, 2 & 3 bedroom apartments designed around a landscaped garden and 3 bedroom townhouses.
