On Wednesday, The Star and Garter played host to a reception for The Turner House Trust, a local charity with the aim of restoring J.M.W Turner’s Twickenham retreat to its original glory. Over 120 guests, including the Mayor of Richmond, attended the event, at which a new documentary, telling the story of the restoration, was screened exclusively, giving attendees the first opportunity to see the work that has taken place so far. The evening, catered by the Bingham, was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate Richmond and Twickenham’s historic buildings, of which The Star and Garter and Turner’s House are two of the most significant. Catherine Parry-Wingfield, chair of The Turner House Trust gave a rousing speech, thanking London Square for its support and explaining future plans for the charity.
