The London Square Croydon site has been awarded full marks following an inspection by the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
London Square Partners and Clarion Housing Group are working together on a scheme on the St Michael's Courtyard site next to West Croydon station to create a new destination for the area. The £90m development will form a major part of the West Croydon Masterplan and create a new gateway to Croydon Town Centre. Construction work is underway to build new homes, an attractive public square,shops, and cafe's and 242 new homes - with 132 affordable shared ownership homes, alongside 108 apartments for 11 private sale.
Simon Twidell, senior project manager for the site, and Neda Haghshenas, the social sustainability and community manager, were commended and awarded top marks for the four areas reviewed:
The report highlighted: 'There is excellent focus on the environmental and commitment to net zero carbon. Further site transparency of policy, strategy, environmental achievements and statistics are to be promoted to the public and workforce with the adoption of QR codes."
“A range of health, and wellbeing initiatives are available to site personnel. Awareness to mental health issues, confidential reporting and health risk issues has been further enhanced. Promotion of female health risk issues and industry's Women in Construction initiative is planned.
