On 20 June, London Square teamed up with Chigwell School Juniors to take part in activity around Walk to School month.

London Square provided pupils from Year 5 of Chigwell School Juniors with high-vis jackets, as well as educational packs, including travel diaries and fun badges to encourage them to walk to school on the day and throughout the school term.

Walk to School Month sees primary school pupils from across the UK celebrate the benefits of walking to school. According to latest research from Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking behind the initiative, a generation ago, 70 per cent of school children walked to school – now it is less than half. Doctors recommend that children should get a minimum of 60 minutes of physical activity every day.

Many of our developments are located within close proximity to schools so we are delighted to be supporting Walk to School Month again this year. Walking to school is a great way to improve fitness and health amongst younger generations and we are proud to be encouraging this.

We strive to encourage children to walk to school throughout the year as we believe the benefits are invaluable to our pupils. We are very grateful for London Square’s support. It was wonderful to see so many pupils gathering together to participate in the Walk to School activity and we are confident that this enthusiasm will continue into the next school year.
