Nishkam School children learn about building site Health & Safety with London Square

01 Feb 17

Award-winning residential developer London Square invited 40 pupils from Year Four at Nishkam School, an Ofsted rated Outstanding school, on Thursday (19 January) to learn about building site health and safety at London Square Isleworth, a development of 162 private one, two and three bedroom apartments on the London Road. The pupils, aged eight and nine, received a health and safety induction, with a special visit from construction industry mascots, Ivor Goodsite and Honor Goodsite. Following their briefing, the children donned high visibility jackets, gloves and hard hats and were given the opportunity to build a brick wall. London Square organised take-home workbooks for all the children, as a souvenir of the day. The visit also marked the launch of an art competition, with the pupils all invited to submit a piece of artwork on the theme ‘What I love about Isleworth’. The winning entries will be incorporated within the design for the new hoarding at the site. Noel Sigamoney, Project Manager at London Square Isleworth, said: “Site safety is of paramount importance to us at London Square and it is crucial that children living and going to school near building sites are aware of the hazards from a young age. London Square works closely with local schools across all sites and it is always a pleasure to engage with the next generation of the local community in which we are working.” Funmi Alder, Headteacher at Nishkam School, said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed their visit and are delighted to be involved in the design of the next stage of hoarding at the development.”
