Bermondsey Jubilee Line station is approximately 14 minutes’ walk from London Square Bermondsey, while London Bridge station, for the Northern Line, Jubilee Line and National Rail, can be reached in about 12 minutes. Both underground lines are also part of Night Tube, great news for late hour workers and party nights out.

Country Life has chosen Bermondsey as the best place to live in London for food, calling it “the capital’s gourmet hub” so it’s no surprise that food lovers flock to here for its exceptionally good choice of restaurants, cafés and bars, many of which are located on the iconic Bermondsey Street. Some highlights include outstanding tapas at José, and French bistro classics at Casse-Croûte. Or for something a little different, be sure to try M.Manze, the home of pie & mash. All their produce is delivered fresh and prepped in-house!

There is no doubt about it, Bermondsey is booming, and it’s main artery is Bermondsey street, just a 7-minute walk from London Square Bermondsey. Here, you are blessed with a copious amount of bars, immersive restaurants, art exhibitions, and small independent shops and cafés, many of which are housed in re-purposed industrial buildings.

Bermondsey is a treasure trove of the quirky, abstract and individual. You can find exquisite couture clothes at Amanda Thompsons’ Bermondsey Street atelier, or for something completely different – head on over to Holly & Lil for a handmade designer dog-collar!” Bermondsey is also home to a much beloved antiques market, with Secret Escapes naming it as one of the five best antique shopping spots across Europe.

Bermondsey has its fair share of open space too. The recently regenerated Bermondsey Spa Gardens include a playground, games area and picnic grounds. Other pockets of green in the area include Tabard and Leathermarket Gardens, or just over a mile away is the considerably larger Southwark Park, which boasts 61 acres of greenery. With its bandstand, boating lake and rose gardens, it is a true ‘people’s park’. If you dream of playing sport where current global icons have graced, head on down to Tanner Street Park, where Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams have all been spotted showcasing their skills. You will never need to stray far to find outdoor spaces when living at London Square Bermondsey. Here you will have access to private landscaped squares, all the joys of a garden, without the maintenance.

Independent charity Tannery Arts has been in Bermondsey since it was founded in 1993 by artists David Austen, David Foster, Chris Pauling and Alison Wilding. Tannery Arts makes contemporary art accessible to the public through exhibitions and educational projects; these are delivered by renowned not-for-profit gallery Drawing Room, which explores ideas around contemporary drawings and brings them into the public domain. Tannery Arts also supports and nurtures the careers of artists with its affordable studios.

The regeneration of its home by London Square provides exciting new premises which will become an integral element in the new development with The Tannery phase. The proposals are to include a double height exhibition space and new artists’ studios. Perhaps the most exciting feature is the row of display cases along Tannery Way, where works by Tannery Arts artists will be on view to passers-by, creating daily visual interest for all.
