London Square is delighted to be supporting Croydon Stands Tall, a large-scale public art event taking to the streets of Croydon in the autumn – with a herd of 30 giant giraffe sculptures popping up in a trail across the town’s cultural hubs and venues.
London Square is sponsoring its own eight ft tall giraffe, which will be hand decorated by local artists, as part of the celebration of Croydon’s extraordinary heritage and cultural diversity and to mark the progress at London Square Croydon, the new destination transforming the area around West Croydon station with stylish new homes, both private for sale and affordable, plus an attractive public square, with cafes and shops at street level.
The 10-week initiative is part of the London Borough of Culture activities, led by Croydon Business Improvement District in partnership with Wild in Art, with funds set to be raised for homelessness charity Crisis and the Croydon Skylight centre in an auction.
Matthew Sims, Chief Executive of Croydon BID said:“We are thrilled to welcome London Square on board as an official Croydon Stands Tall Giraffe Sculpture sponsor. London Square has consistently shown its commitment to the community and the people of Croydon. In supporting Croydon Stands Tall, London Square is once again investing into supporting the arts, culture, diverse talents that exist within Croydon as the borough gears up to staging the London Borough of Culture. The support shown by London Square ensures we are able to showcase Croydon this summer as we get ready to go live with one of the largest art trails the borough has seen. What’s more, collectively our partners are all working towards supporting our charity partner Crisis UK.”
Jo McDonagh, Sales and Marketing Director, London Square, said: “Croydon has such extraordinary creative and cultural energy and we are delighted to be supporting Croydon Stands Tall as part of our commitment to the town and local people. The regeneration that London Square Croydon is bringing to West Croydon is also playing a key role in bringing new life and helping to boost the local economy for businesses and local people. We are looking forward to taking part in this extraordinary trail of giant giraffes.
