Award-winning residential developer London Square hosted pupils from the School Council in Years Three to Six at Newnham Junior School for a site visit at its Eastcote development last week (Friday 16 May 2014). The development, situated in the heart of Eastcote, is a five minute walk away from the school.
The pupils, aged seven to 11, received a Health & Safety induction and donned high visibility jackets and hard hats before they set foot on the building site to see the dramatic transformation taking place behind the development’s hoarding. The London Square construction team taught the children about the hazards they should look out for around heavy machinery and there was even a chance for the pupils to have a go at building their own mini brick wall.
Andy Maciejewski, Construction Director at Ickenham-based London Square, said: “Site safety is of paramount importance to us at London Square and it is crucial that children living and going to school near building sites are aware of the dangers from a young age. Construction at London Square Eastcote is progressing very well and the visit offered the children a great hands-on opportunity to get involved and see how the site is being transformed into a fantastic development in an outstanding setting.”
Kulvinder Nahal, Headteacher at Newnham Junior School in Eastcote, said: “The pupils thoroughly enjoyed their visit to London Square Eastcote and were enthralled by the machinery and the builders who showed them how it was all done.”
London Square’s Eastcote development is a smart collection of 45 one, two and three bedroom apartments. The gated development’s landscaped setting provides an oasis of calm close to the bustle of Eastcote High Street, with its plentiful shops and restaurants. The scheme is also conveniently situated just 300 metres from Eastcote station, which offers fast links into central London via the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines within half an hour.
The development launched for sale in March this year and 20 apartments have already been sold. The first homes are expected to be completed by spring 2015. Prices start from £399,995 for a two bedroom apartment. Please visit www.londonsquare.co.uk or call the sales suite on 0333 666 2535.
