London Square helps launch hot new artist Al Gray in Wimbledon Village

31 Jul 12

Residential developer London Square, recently named Newcomer of the Year at the Norwood Property Awards 2012, is supporting the launch of artist Al Gray at Wimbledon Canvas on Thursday 2 August. The event will take place between 6.30 – 9.30pm and will feature work from the Herefordshire based artist who has accrued a growing following over the past five years. Renowned for his work that draws inspiration from both the modern world of contemporary art and the historical world of traditional arts and crafts, Gray has already seen his work exhibited in a number of small exhibitions across the country. Educated from a young age in the restoration of antique art, Gray quickly developed a style that drew on influences from traditional Japanese artwork. Inspired by fine line techniques and intense detail, Gray succeeds in producing work that fuses the two worlds of contemporary urban design and traditional arts and crafts, often incorporating tattoos into his work - allowing him to portray a world within the figures that he creates. Wimbledon Canvas is no stranger to diverse modern artwork, currently exhibiting select works from famed ‘anonymous’ street artist Banksy. The gallery is situated on the idyllic Wimbledon Village High Street – close to where London Square is developing 10 luxury homes - and displays an eclectic mix of contemporary prints, photographs, paintings and sculptures. The gallery also allows potential buyers to ‘try before they buy’, giving them the opportunity to trial works at their homes before committing.
