Major new residential developer London Square has won two of the property industry’s biggest accolades, at the ‘Oscars’ of the housebuilding industry, the What House? Awards 2013. The company, which currently has 10 sites and a development pipeline worth over £1 billion, won a Bronze Award for Best Small Housebuilder and Silver for Best Apartment Scheme at Leonard Street in Shoreditch. Judges commented: “London Square has made a remarkable impact on the capital since it was formed, from the ashes of recession, in 2010. It requires a considerable amount of courage to park tanks on the country’s most prestigious property lawns, but Adam Lawrence, founder and chief executive, has created a striking new player in this most combative of battlegrounds and already has an enviable pipeline of new developments, including the Royal Star & Garter site in Richmond, overlooking the River Thames. Classy and cool but old school too, London Square is going to be a fascinating story to watch in the highest profile property city on earth.”
The awards, presented by comedian Dave Spikey and held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on 15 November, also saw London Square receive the Silver Award for Best Apartment Scheme at EC2’s most vibrant new address at Leonard Street. The cool development of 42 cutting-edge apartments is crowned by three show-stopping penthouses and has sold to a mix of city workers and creative professionals who want to be part of London’s brightest and most buzzing district. Judges commented: “A vibrant address – and where’s cooler than EC2 right now? – requires a vibrant property. Leonard Street, between Shoreditch and the City, certainly fills the uber-groovy profile. The handiwork of architect Allford Hall Monaghan Morris brings a strong sense of slickness to an up-and-coming area. The concierge on hand daily from 7am to 7pm, grand double-height reception space, bespoke Siematic kitchens, frameless glass shower screens, hardwood flooring, underfloor wet heating and custom-made bamboo doors are all highlights.”
Rebecca Littler, Sales Director of London Square, said: “We are delighted to receive this excellent recognition for our highly talented and hardworking team. In almost four years we have built a business from scratch and last week saw the launch of our impressive Fulham development. We now have ten sites underway across London in prime areas including Putney, Richmond and Teddington. Building homes that people really want to live in, in sought-after locations, is what London Square is all about.” Find out more by visiting the What House?
