Award-winning developer London Square has acquired Charter Square, a major site in the heart of Staines-upon-Thames – with plans to implement a new £120m scheme that will transform the town centre.
London Square, which has won awards for its regeneration of former office and light industrial sites in Shoreditch, Putney and Fulham, and has a £2bn pipeline of schemes across Greater London, is planning an attractive, contemporary high quality town centre scheme, with a new public square, landscaping, transport improvements, retail and new homes. The 1.4 acre site, which has lain derelict for years, is a former office building and was purchased from developer Seniats Ltd.
London Square plans to adopt a phased approach to Charter Square, starting on site in summer 2016, with a target completion of summer 2019.
Brian Betsy, Managing Director, London Square, said: “Charter Square will create a focal point to the high street with a smart new public piazza, featuring new homes and shops in an attractive setting which will help to bring new energy to this riverside town. London Square has an outstanding reputation for transforming derelict and forgotten sites and our latest acquisition is an exciting opportunity for us to make a major difference to the future success of Staines-upon-Thames.”
