The Baxter family relocate from Russia to London Square Wimbledon Village

22 May 13

When Andrew (47) and Eva Baxter (39) decided to permanently relocate from Moscow to London with their three young children, they were determined to find a family home that ticked absolutely all of the boxes. Andrew Baxter, who is a director at Alfa-Bank, Russia’s largest private bank, explains:

“We were looking for a large house with a decent – sized garden in a great location. The Campden had all this and more – fantastic design and an exceptionally high quality finish, plus good amenities close by.”

At first, The Baxters didn’t plan to buy a new build property and they were house hunting for quite a while before they found their perfect house in The Campden. They looked at a number of different London suburbs and a several period properties in Wimbledon Village before they came across London’s Square’s exclusive gated scheme on Edge Hill. Eva said:

“A consistent problem we encountered with older houses was that few of them were built with modern open-plan living in mind. This was a significant drawback and even the properties we looked at which had been recently refurbished simply didn’t compete with the convenient, well-designed layout of The Campden. We weren’t prepared to make a compromise and thankfully we found just what we wanted.”

She continues:

“We looked at a number of different London suburbs, but as soon as we stepped into Wimbledon we knew it was where we had to live. It has it all - close proximity to London, yet far enough away to not feel boxed in. Wimbledon Village High Street is a little community with boutique shops, independent restaurants and a huge expanse of open space at Wimbledon Common close by. But the centre of Wimbledon has still got a city feel - with a big shopping centre and lots of designer stores. It’s the perfect mix of London and country.”

The good local schools were also a major consideration for the Baxters. In the autumn, Nicole, aged 9, Edward, aged 7 and Eric, aged 3, will all be joining Prospect House, an independent primary school in Putney just a short journey away. London Square’s Wimbledon Village is a new collection of just 10 magnificent family homes which combine the latest trends in London living with the cachet of an enviable lifestyle in the heart of fashionable Wimbledon village. The family homes, named after famous London squares, are set behind a gated entrance in mature landscaped grounds, close to Wimbledon Village High Street and just a mile from the All England Lawn Tennis Club. The development is the ideal setting for relaxed family life according to Andrew:

“London Square Wimbledon Village is small and intimate with a feeling of privacy. It doesn’t feel too big or impersonal which was important to us with three young children.”
