London Square has secured planning approval from the London Borough of Merton to transform Wimbledon Bridge House into an attractive mixed-use development providing 123 new homes in this popular well connected London suburb.
The vacant office building, built in 1989, was acquired by London Square earlier this year. It stands in the heart of the town centre opposite Wimbledon train station and close to the All England Lawn Tennis Club, home of the Wimbledon Championships, which attract over half a million visitors every year.
London Square will now move ahead with plans to extend and reconfigure the building into a vibrant mixed-use scheme delivering new homes, commercial space, and improvements at street level.
Overall, the redevelopment will provide 123 one, two and three bed apartments alongside c27,000 sq ft of commercial floorspace, supporting local employment and retail opportunities.
Alongside the homes, new designs for the building’s façade were also approved that will enhance its contribution to the area while the carbon impact of construction will be minimised through the retention of the original structure.
Subject to Building Safety Regulator approval, London Square expects to complete the scheme in 2028.
