Leading London residential developer London Square hosted Year Three pupils from Wimbledon Common Preparatory School for a site visit at their Wimbledon Village development in SW19 last week (Thursday 28 June). The development is situated directly opposite the school on the corner of Edge Hill and Ridgway. The pupils, aged eight, received a Health & Safety induction and donned high visibility jackets and hard hats before they set foot on the building site to see the dramatic transformation that is taking place behind the development’s hoarding. The London Square construction team taught the children about the hazards they should look out for around heavy machinery and there was even a chance for the pupils to have a go at building their own mini brick wall. Terry Rood, Construction Director at London Square, said: “Site safety is of paramount importance to us at London Square and it is crucial that children living and going to school near building sites are aware of the dangers from a young age. Construction at London Square Wimbledon Village is progressing very well and the visit offered the children a great hands-on opportunity to get involved and see how the site is being transformed into a fantastic development in an outstanding setting.” Mark Bonney, Year Three teacher at Wimbledon Common Preparatory School, said: “The boys thoroughly enjoyed their experience at London Square and were absolutely amazed by the wonderful work that is taking place.
